Fantastic Beasts is proud to deliver an entire set of low-cost animal healthcare programs for the Central Vancouver Island Community

Lack of access to affordable veterinary care is one of the biggest welfare concerns for companion animals today. Our Pawsitive Care initiative was created to address the biggest barrier to accessing veterinary care - financial constraints.

Our low-cost programming started with physical exams, vaccines, and parasite control, and quickly blossomed to include spay/neuter surgeries.

We are hoping to continue to develop new programs to address every aspect of veterinary care. Please check back regularly for programming updates.

Our Pawsitive Care program has been re-invented!

Due to overwhelming interest in these programs throughout 2024, we have made slight changes to the application process and discounts provided. We are hoping this will protect the long-term sustainability of our programs.

We are now offering:

  • An annual wellness package for $100, including:

    • 30 minute physical exam

    • 2 core vaccines (Rabies and FVRCP/DA2PP)

    • Microchip for identification

  • ANY product or service thereafter at a 20% discount

  • Entrance into our Spay/Neuter program if needed

This discount applies for 1 year after approval.

Proof of income must be provided annually to continue in the program.

Our Pawsitive Care programs are intended for HEALTHY animals only.

We do not currently have the ability to offer low-cost urgent or emergency services. â€‹

HOW IT WORKS

1. If you are interested in our low-cost programs, please submit an online application (found below).

2. Based on your application and annual household income, we will determine if this program is right for you.

Applicants must demonstrate eligibility through one of the following:

  • BC Person with Disability (PWD) designation

  • CRA Notice of Assessment showing an annual household income of less than $35,000 (T4s will not be accepted)

  • 30 day Bank statement

  • Letter from a registered social worker, domestic violence shelter or temporary housing shelter

  • Proof of enrollment in government assistance programs (e.g., income assistance, disability benefits, or housing support)

  • Referral from a community outreach program or partner organization

3. Our staff will contact you to book a low-cost Pawsitive Care wellness exam.

We aim to contact all applicants within 14 days, however; overwhelming application numbers may mean longer wait times (we appreciate your patience).

4. Once we have completed a Pawsitive Care exam, those interested in our low-cost Spay/Neuter surgeries will be provided with estimates/details, and can sign up in-clinic.

Please NOTE - Verification of income status is necessary to make sure limited resources are directed towards those who need it most.

*If documentation is a barrier, please contact us and we will try to work towards a solution together.

A HUGE THANK YOU to everyone who has donated!
